Adjacent Images: Eleven Painters and A Photographer ‘Read’ Michel Fais
Eleven painters and a photographer draw out images from writer Michel Fais’s work since 1994 up to date. The artists inspired by Fais’s books, plays and photographs, present their interpretations through painting, video and photograph.
The artists who participate in the exhibition are painters Angelos Antonopoulos, Kalliopi Asargiotaki, Manolis Bitsakis, Christos Bokoros, Chronis Botsoglou, Pericles Goulakos, Achilleas Papacostas, Kostas Papanikolaou, Giorgos Rorris, Marilitsa Vlachaki, Marilena Zamboura and photographer Elias Cosindas.
The exhibition “Adjacent I”mages”, hosted at 16 Fokionos Negri, is organised and curated by Elissavet Sakareli. During the exhibition, several events will take place; more details will be announced in the following days.
BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
Michel Fais is the editor of the book section of the Greek newspaper “Efimerida ton Syntakton”. He teaches Creative Writing at the Hellenic Open University, at the University of Western Macedonia and at the “Sxoli” (courses for adults) of Patakis Publications. In 2000 he was awarded the State Literary Prize for Short Story. His novels and short stories have been translated into English, German, French, Spanish, Romanian, Czech and Chinese. Works of his have been produced for the theatre (by Roula Pateraki, Thodoris Gkonis, Lilly Meleme, Pericles Hoursoglou, Alexia Kaltsiki, among others). Fais has worked closely with director Nikos Panayiotopoulos on the screenplays of two films. He has exhibited his photographs in two solo shows. Fais has published nine books, two plays and two photo-albums.
