In search of the image: Simeio Art Group

The other Arcadia Foundation and the Simeio Art Group present the exhibition “In search of the image: Simeio Art Group”, curated by Elizabeth Plessa, at 16 Fokionos Negri.
The subject of this exhibition is not just fifty-five artworks painted by the Simeio Art Group, with the guidance of George Rorris and Kallia Triantafyllou; it is equally those twenty-two people themselves, who are not concerned with age, education, social and cultural background, or the level of artistic knowledge or skill each of them possesses. Sharing their humility before learning and their faith in painting, devoted to the tropes of the visible yet on the trail of the invisible, they search for the image, and for their image.
Participating artists: Christina Adam, Maria Bertsia, Ilianna Chondrogianni, Annita Christofidou, Maria Damianou, Katerina Delta, Olia Farou, Vally Kontidou, Venia Kountouri, Dimitra Kozadinou, Dimitris Leivadiotis, Theodosia Maroutsi, Kostas Papastergiou, Naya Paschali, Voula Petropoulou, Kristina Politidou, Sofia Prokopiou, Spyroula Skordi, Dimitris Stagkopoulos, Eirini Tripodaki, Evelina Vierrou, Andreas Vourloumis
The exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated catalogue with texts by its editor and exhibition curator, Elizabeth Plessa.

The Simeio Art Group was founded in 2001 and is based in Athens. Its purpose is to engage with classical, modern, and contemporary painting, as well as all of its evolutions.
