Professor Theodoros Georgiou believes that Philosophy and Art stand for two different (complimentary though) intellectual activities. From an intellectual point of view, philosophy is associated with Syllogism (Vernunft) and Art is pertinent to aesthetics (Sinnlichkeit).

Philosophy is defined as the current historical-social-pragmatic situation, which equates with the “concept” (according to Hegel). Philosophy is the “concept”, i.e. the rational constitutive element of reality. On the other hand, art is the distinctive expression of the idea and the absolute (also according to Hegel).

Theodoros Georgiou, student of German philosopher Jürgen Habermas, is currently a Professor of Philosophy at the Democritus University of Thrace. During two academic years, from 2008 to 2010, he was a Visiting Professor at the University of Frankfurt, Germany. He has participated in various national and international philosophy conferences. He is currently a member of the Greek Philosophical Society, the Forum für Philosophie (Bad Homburg – Germany) and of the International Association of Art Critics (A.I.C.A. Hellas). He is also the author of many books on philosophy.

On the day of the event, works from the Sotiris Felios Collection will be exhibited, on a display curated by Professor Georgiou.
